MEDFORD, Mass. — Apparel supplier Charles River Apparel recently announced a partnership with Gear4Good, a charitable program that distributes donated outdoor gear and apparel to those in need, according to Promo Marketing magazine. Gear4Good is part of the Albuquerque, N.M.-based nonprofit organization The Mountain Fund, which assists impoverished mountain communities with health care, education and human rights issues around the world. The Mountain Fund’s program Gear4Good collects donated used items such as packs, sleeping bags, boots and outerwear to be reused by trekking porters, search-and-rescue teams and at-risk youth. Charles River Apparel recently donated hundreds of jackets, which will be given by the program to the people of indigent villages in Nepal. “In Nepal, poorly paid porters lack clothing to keep them warm and dry while carrying loads for tourists up the steep slopes of Mt. Everest,” Scott MacLennan, founder and executive director of The Mountain Fund told Promo Marketing. “Many times over the years they suffered frostbite or even died for lack of a good, warm jacket. Charles River Apparel’s donation will help ensure that hundreds of working porters do not suffer.” Source: Promo Marketing magazine:Charles River Partners with The Mountain Fund’s Gear4Good Charitable Program Related Content: Charles River Apparel Launches ‘Be Pink Proud’ in Support of Breast Cancer Research
