Marketers May Cut Spending, Survey Says

10/08/2008

A recent survey from the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) suggests that more than 50 percent of marketers plan to reduce their ad budgets in the next six months, according to Stitches magazine.

In the early summer, the ANA asked 100 marketers from various industries about their upcoming marketing plans. Eighty-seven percent of respondents reported already feeling pressure to reduce spending. The survey also found that 63 percent of respondents planned to cut their production budgets, while 61 percent planned to put off new projects.

Industry members, however, expressed doubt that this potential trend would hold up in the holiday season, when marketing dollars are generally spent generously.
